When I bought it the door was in the locked open position so access to working on the lock was not a problem. The lock has a hand changeable wheel curb and thus from this I got the combination. The lock has a gravity driven bolt, after the last number is dialed in the dial is slowly turned right and eventually should stop when the driver gate aligns with the notches in the tumbler thus allowing the gravity driven bolt to drop and the safe can be opened. Netscape Communicator 4.06.

Now here is the problem I am having. The bolt just does not want to fall that easy, now if I push on the bolt just a slight amount when turning it will catch and fall right into place.

It's like there is just a bit too much friction on the gravity driven bolt and lever. So what I would like to know is what is the proper type of lubrication to use on this lock? All the internals are a hardened brass material by the way.
