Despite being an eagle scout, dropping out of an engineering degree, and liking to tinker I never owned a leatherman or other multitool. It says Stainless 2CR, which I don't see on the [SAE wikipedia listing page]. I see codes that contain 2CR.

I see a mention but nothing about the particulars of its metallurgy. So I'm pretty sure the steel is stainless. I'm pretty sure its not as hard as typical 'tool grade' steel because its machined smoother than more expensive standalong pliers. I'm guessing that CR means Chromium, but of course stainless steel will have chromium in it. So my question is, what can I know for sure about 'Stainless 2CR' and what simple tests can I do to determine more.
