I have an old Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5535, over the past 8 years I tried many times to install the latest Ubuntu version on it but I always had the same. Jul 06, 2015 Hello everyone! My relative has an old laptop (probably 8 years old): Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Moble (I believe it's 500 series, I can't see it right.

My laptop is an Esprimo Mobile V5535 with a SiS 771/671 Mirage 3 graphic card. Now, I belive that most of you are aware of the incompatibility between Linux and this type of graphic card.

As you may guess, I have problems with the resolution mainly. I can only use a 1024x768 resolution, while my optimal resolution is 1280x800. In the past I used other versions of Linux such as Ubuntu or even Linux Mint 13, but for a very short period of time. Then, I was able to fix this problem by searching the web and finding other users who had the same problem. But I can't seem to find a fix for this version of Mint. Excel 2010 Logo. Can anybody help me, please? I'm looking forward to learn how to use Linux, but I won't get a new laptop untill next year, so I would like to use Linux on this one.

I'd be very grateful if someone could take a little time to help me fix this. Adobe Audition Echo Removal Tutorial there. I'll wait for your answers!

Code: # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page. # (Type 'man xorg.conf' at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # Note that some configuration settings that could be done previously # in this file, now are automatically configured by the server and settings # here are ignored. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section 'Device' Identifier 'Configured Video Device' EndSection Section 'Monitor' Identifier 'Configured Monitor' HorizSync 28-72 VertRefresh 43-60 EndSection Section 'Screen' Identifier 'Default Screen' Monitor 'Configured Monitor' Device 'Configured Video Device' DefaultDepth 24 EndSection Then, not sure it was necessary but I ran the command. Glad it worked, Dorel. Two things: I'm running LMDE and there isn't an xorg.conf file by default, and I didn't run the code you gave, but just ran it and it didn't appear to make any difference.

As for the fan, it seems pretty active whatever OS is in use, but I can't really say I've noticed whether there's a difference between Linux and Windows; the V5535 that I'm currently using was previously my grand-daughter's, and she used to complain of it getting hot when running the pre-installed Vista. I guess it's the graphics chip, which has a pretty big heat sink on it and is right next to the CPU - the fan still spins quite often when the CPU isn't really doing anything.

One thing I've noticed with this set-up is that my mouse pointer disappears occasionally. Nothing to get worked up about though, I don't think; it reappears as soon as I move it a bit. Certainly better than the 1024x768 resolution!
