This one has me puzzled. I have no idea what the viewfinder or it's cover has to do with, changing the battery. To change the battery you simply slide back a small protrusion on the battery cover and it should pop open. It is a very simple task, yet a lot of people seem to have trouble with it and tear the battery door completely off. Of course the battery will stay in even without the compartment's cover. Btw, where are you looking to find the battery?
