I am running Windows XP Pro 2002 SP 2. - used registry cleaners CCleaner and RegCure - Attempted to install QuickTime standalone version, which gives me the vague message 'The installer encountered errors before the requested operations for QuickTime could be completed'. This is where Apple support says the problem is with XP, which I do not doubt, but is still difficult to troubleshoot.

Jul 5, 2007 3:52 PM. I may have made some progress on this issue. I have installed an old version of QuickTime (6.5. Ultimate Spiderman Game For Windows 7. 2) that works successfully. However, when I try to use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to uninstall it, QuickTime does not appear in the list. Any other software I have successfully installed appears on this list (in addition to the Add/Remove Programs list), including the version of iTunes that does not work.
